GOOD LUCK !!
Reply:I look for them to be uniform in color and firm, not too soft and definetly not too hard. If you do get some harder ones (still green or not ready to eat) put them in a brown paper bag on your window seal or on a counter and within two days they will be ripe.

But I like the black plums so I look for ones that are uniform in color and are fairly firm when I squeeze them.

Good luck and enjoy
Reply:choose a plum that is heavy for its size, and pick firm ones if you like a little crunch - I prefer these ones, they are easy to cut into, and don't make a mess

Choose softer ones if you prefer sweeter, juicer ones.

Avoid wrinkled ones.
Reply:Ask the grocer to cut one so that you can try them. I always do this and they are happy to help. I love the red center plums the best.
